The Big News

This was the envelope given to Amy's Mom, Pat, on Christmas morning:

Inside was this note:

Pat didn't quite understand. So, Amy blurted it out:

"I'm pregnant."

We had just gone to the doctor's office Christmas Eve and been told the due date. Pat was the first relative we told.

Then I got on the phone and told my parents. Meanwhile, Amy got online in a chat room with the rest of her family - she is the youngest of eight children - and they gathered around computers in Sullivanville, N.Y., and Safety Harbour, FL, and she gave them the news.

This will be the 14th grandchild for Howard and Pat Clark.

This will be the FIRST grandchild for my parents, Edward G. Bond Sr. and Nona Bond.

Baby names:

We've decided we don't want to know the sex of the baby before its birth. "There's so few good surprises in life anymore," Amy said.

For now, we just refer to it as "Cosmo." But we are thinking of real names.

Cosmo, now coming to you in the glory of ULTRASOUND.

Here are some possibilities that have been suggested to us from all over the country:

If it's a boy:

Connell
(after my mother's grandfather)

Eamon or Liam
(two good Irish names)

Edward Howard
(after each grandfather)

Jack
(after uncles on both sides of the family)

If it's a girl:

Ann

Brigid

Claire

Colleen

Kathleen Elizabeth
(Katie)

Mairi

Maeve

Margaret

Either/Or
Stacey or Kelley
