Where'd we get the idea? In a way, it came from a gag gift. A few
years ago, Jeff took me down to Universal Citywalk to take this picture.
I wanted to come up with a new concept for the photo. We were both reporters
for the L.A. Times at the time, so I said, "Let's interview them."
Very rarely do these Trek guys have to face tough questions from
the media, so I thought it was fun. My sister said Data looks like I just
asked him a completely asinine question. |

Not long after this, Jeff was interviewing Jeri Taylor for real.
He pointed out how they never have journalism in the show. "You're right,"
she said. "If you get any ideas for that, let me know."
With a little luck, it happened. We sold a story. |
