What is Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu?
Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu is many things to many people. It is a means of self-defense, an art, a discipline, a fitness program, a recreational activity, and a way of life.
Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu comes to us from the fighting systems of feudal Japan. Developed by Sanzo Seki (1914-1998), Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu is a compilation of techniques of the ancient Jiu-Jitsu ryu or schools of Japan. Seki Sensei studied these ancient forms and integrated what he considered to be the best of their techniques into what is now the art of Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu.
Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu is known for its spectacular throwing techniques, control holds, joint locks, and choking techniques. It also involves grappling techniques utilizing specialized pins and some weapon techniques.
Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu is taught under a strict set of guidelines that provides effective training, full physical activity, and top conditioning while ensuring safety.
Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu is unique in that all age groups, both sexes, and many disabled persons can participate in learning and practicing the art. Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu is an inexpensive, year-round activity that appeals to people from all walks of life. People from six to sixty enjoy the art for developing self-discipline and respect for oneself and others.
